My letter to my dad about that 1998 fishing trip still sits in my drawer

I wrote this letter to my dad back in 2019 about a trip we took to Lake Murray when I was 12. He promised we'd fish all weekend but spent most of Saturday helping his buddy fix a boat motor at the dock. I sat on that pier for like 4 hours holding a rod with a bobber that never moved. I never sent the letter because he passed away in 2020 from a heart attack. Now I just keep it folded up in my nightstand and read it sometimes. What do you folks do with letters you can't ever send? Just throw them out or hold onto them like I do?

Ngl I used to side with tossing them but this changed my whole view.

Toss it. Holding onto old letters just makes you sad for no reason.

Yeah but sometimes the old stuff teaches you something about where you're headed.
