My $300 emergency vet bill taught me to stop feeding my dog table scraps
I dropped almost three hundred bucks at the all-night clinic after my dog got into a greasy meatball and ended up with pancreatitis, so now I just toss the leftovers straight in the trash instead of feeling guilty, anyone else learned a costly lesson about what your pet can't eat?

Boiled chicken and plain white rice is pretty much the only thing my dog gets now if his stomach is acting up... learned that the hard way after a $400 trip for gastroenteritis. I also keep a list of toxic foods taped to the pantry door so nobody in my family slips him grapes or onions by accident again.

Honestly, just switching to plain boiled chicken fixed my dog's stomach issues.

I actually read somewhere that boiled chicken alone might not have enough nutrients if you feed it too long without the rice too. But for a quick fix it totally works. @kelly385 you're right that keeping it simple is usually the best bet. I heard a vet say sometimes people overcomplicate dog diets when all they need is one protein that agrees with them. Bland is boring but it sure beats cleaning up sick all night.
