My friend's job application got auto-rejected because his resume said 'university' instead of 'college'
He told me the hiring manager at his old firm in Chicago finally explained why his resume never passed the first filter. The algorithm was set to flag any resume with the word 'university' as not matching the 'college degree' requirement field. Has anyone else heard of a system being that rigid over a single word?

Yeah, that "exact format" thing @piperbailey mentioned is real. My buddy lost out because his job title was "IT Manager" and the system only looked for "Manager, IT.

Wow, that's brutal but weirdly believable. My cousin's resume got tossed by a system because she listed months and years for her jobs instead of just years. The automated screen wanted the exact format "2019-2021" and she had "June 2019 - August 2021." It's crazy how something so small can completely block you.
