Torque wrench calibration saved my tail yesterday in Dallas
I used to think torque wrenches were fine until the sticker said otherwise. Then I checked one against the test rig and it was off by 12% on a 40 ft-lb setting. That's how you get stripped threads or worse, a loose bolt on a flight control surface. I now check every wrench I touch before a big job, especially the cheap ones guys bring from home. Has anyone else caught a bad reading on a shop tool that made you question everything?

Right after I read this I walked out to my own garage and stared at my torque wrench like it owed me money. Calibration is one of those things we just assume is fine until it isnt, you know? It reminds me of how people trust their phone battery percentage or their car oil life monitor without ever second guessing the gauge. But those little numbers are just guesses from a sensor that can drift over time. We put so much faith in tools that never tell us when they are wrong. Once you catch one being off, you start wondering what else around you is quietly lying.
