Found a cracked exhaust valve on cylinder 3 at 1,847 hours, and the compression test saved me from a real bad day
Did my first full compression check on a Lycoming O-360 last week at the shop and cylinder 3 read 42/80 while the others sat in the high 70s, so we pulled the jug and there was a burned valve staring back at me, has anyone else found that one low cylinder hides a bigger problem once you borescope it?

Cylinder 2 on a 172 did that, 45/80 and just carbon.
