Unpopular opinion: The AI that runs my apartment's recycling bins made me get why tech can help the planet.

Your point about the AI in recycling bins really hits home. I used to just toss everything in one bin, but smart systems like that can sort things better than people sometimes. My city has sensors in public trash cans that alert when they're full, which cuts down on truck trips and fuel use. It's small stuff, but it adds up. Makes you wonder what other everyday tech we're overlooking that could help, right?

Seriously, programmable thermostats are a perfect example! They cut my heating bill way down by only running when people are home. It's wild how much gets wasted on empty rooms.

Yeah, that point about overlooked tech really gets me! Smart water meters are a great example since they spot leaks fast and prevent huge waste. I also love how some stores now use digital price tags that update instantly, cutting down on paper use from printed labels. Even simple stuff like motion sensor lights in offices can save a ton of energy over a year. It's crazy how these small changes, when spread out, create such big benefits. We just need to push for more of these smart tools in our daily lives!

Totally agree, it's wild how these little things help. Wish more businesses would get on board.
