My AI assistant tried to order 500 pizzas during a demo in Austin

I was showing off a new voice command system at a tech meetup, and a background conversation about dinner triggered it. The pizza place called to confirm the order, which was pretty awkward. Has anyone else had a real world test go sideways because of unexpected audio input?

That "background conversation" trigger is the worst. I had a smart home demo where someone's laugh accidentally turned all my lights bright red. Now I use a custom wake word for demos that's total nonsense, like "pickle jar," so normal chat can't set it off. It sounds silly but it saves you from that panic call from a confused pizza place.

Ugh, that red light story is a total nightmare... I had a similar thing happen during a movie night where a line of dialogue ordered fifty dollars worth of dog food. Using a weird phrase like "pickle jar" is actually super smart, even if it makes you sound a bit crazy explaining it to guests.

What's your take on @gracec16's idea to use a nonsense wake word for demos?
