A 12 year old explained my AI chatbot blindspot

Last week my niece asked why my voice assistant couldn't tell her a bedtime story without adding random facts. She said it felt like the AI was showing off instead of just talking. Has anyone else noticed these models struggle to match the tone of the person they're chatting with?

The kid might be onto something, but honestly I've had the opposite problem where they get too chill and forget the plot.
