Vent: That one missing form for my passport took me 11 weeks to track down
I mailed my passport renewal to the State Department office in Charleston back in March and got a letter 5 weeks later saying my birth certificate copy wasn't acceptable because it was missing a raised seal. Nobody told me the hospital version with the footprints doesn't count, so I had to order a new one from the vital records office in my home county, which only takes money orders and has one phone line that's busy until 2pm. All in all it took 11 weeks and $89 in fees and shipping before I even got back in line, and my trip to Dublin in June got moved to October because of it. Does anyone know if the expedited service is actually worth the extra $60 or is it the same wait with a fancier label?
