My dad told me to put 10% of every check into a separate savings account right away. I did it for a year and just paid a $1200 car repair without blinking.

Used to think just paying off the house was the whole plan. Honestly believed that was enough. Then I saw how much my parents struggled after they retired with just that. Changed my whole view. Now it's about building actual cash flow, not just owning a place to live. The plan has a lot more steps now.

Yeah, I mean after the house is paid off, what then? Sandra_bennett59 is right about needing cash flow. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'm looking at things like boring dividend stocks or a small rental, something that just quietly pays the bills later.
