Showerthought: The patience needed for my vintage book reselling hustle feels ancient now.

I used to spend weekends scouring flea markets and waiting for rare editions to surface. Today, algorithms do the hunting, but the thrill of the slow find is gone.

Seriously? Algorithms completely killed that magical feeling of discovery.

Miss digging through dusty bins for that one perfect find, it just hit different than scrolling through search results now.

That "perfect find" feeling, @young.eric, is hard to replicate digitally. Do you think it's the lack of control that made it thrilling, like you were at the mercy of what was in the bin? Uncovering a retro video game cartridge covered in dust, versus typing its name into a search bar, hits different. The algorithm removes the journey, you know? It just serves up the destination. I miss the stories behind each find, like wondering who owned it before.

Totally get what you mean, @young.eric, that tactile hunt had a unique thrill algorithms can't replicate.
