My shed roof sagged from wet lumber, how do you season your cuts?
Built a lean-to shed off my garage in March using green PT 2x6s for the rafters at 24 inch centers. By August the whole roof line dipped 2 inches in the middle and the door frame started binding every humid week. Turns out I skipped letting the wood dry and didn't brace the ridge properly, so the weight pushed it all down. Tore off the roof panels, jacked the center up, and sistered in some dried 2x8s with temporary cross bracing for a week before re-sheathing. Has anyone else fought green lumber movement on a shed roof, or did I just pick the wrong season to build?
Gotta disagree on the season being the problem here. Green PT lumber moves no matter when you build with it, so blaming March is kind of a cop out. The real issue is you used 2x6 rafters at 24 inches and didn't brace the ridge, that combo was doomed from day one.
