Local park clean-up days are getting more popular, and it's changing how I see stuff.
Seeing neighbors care for shared spaces instead of owning stuff changed my clutter mindset.

Wait, people actually show up for those? Our neighborhood tried that once. Three people came.

Ugh, that's rough! My street had a potluck last year and only a few people came. It seems like folks are either too busy or they don't see the point. But a safety meeting had a big crowd after some cars were damaged. What kind of event did you have?

Honestly, reading this made me remember our block's garden project last spring. We tried to get people to help plant flowers in the shared beds, and barely anyone showed up at first. But then we started leaving tools out and putting up signs with kids' drawings, and slowly more neighbors joined in. It was weird how the small, messy efforts got more attention than the big, organized plans. Tbh, it changed how I see getting people to care about shared spaces. You almost have to make it personal and a bit imperfect to get folks involved.
