The three word critique that changed my whole editing approach
Last month a friend read my blog drafts and said 'you bury leads.' I always thought a slow setup built suspense, but she pointed to my third paragraph and said the actual point was sitting there since line 1. So I tried starting with my conclusion at 7 a.m. in Portland before work, and the piece got twice the comments. Has anyone else gotten feedback that felt harsh but turned out to be a map for how you write now?
