After weeks of confusion, reading steel erection drawings clicked for me.

It happened during a coffee break talk with an old timer.

My foreman Joe finally made those confusing bolt patterns make sense last Tuesday.

Hey @brookep80, did Joe explain how bolt patterns change with wheel adapters? Like if you use spacers to fit different rims, it can throw off the whole pattern and cause stress cracks. I've seen that mess up hub bearings over time because the load isn't even anymore. Getting that right from the start keeps your suspension from wearing out fast.

Yeah, Joe mentioned that even a tiny offset change, like going from a 5x114.3 pattern to a 5x115 with adapters, can mess with the hub's load center. I watched a guy at the local track who ran that setup for a season... his front hubs got so chewed up from the uneven stress that the wheels actually had visible play during the pre-race check. It's not just about cracks forming, it makes the whole wheel bearing fight itself every time you turn.

Adapters haven't messed up my hubs, so maybe it's about how they're put on.
