Shoutout to the neighbor who paved their driveway vs those who just gravel it

I've been living on my street in Raleigh for about 8 years now, and I swear I can see a real difference between the two houses that paved their driveways versus the three that just keep adding gravel. The paved ones look cleaner and don't have ruts, but the gravel ones are cheaper upfront by maybe $4,000. Which side do you lean toward for a long-term home?

I mean, idk if this matters to anyone else but there's also the whole thing about how gravel makes this constant crunching sound every time you pull in or out. My buddy lives on a gravel drive and I swear every car coming and going sounds like someone's eating chips in a quiet room. That alone would drive me nuts after eight years.

Honestly I never really thought about it before but you're totally right... I used to think gravel drives were kind of charming or whatever but that constant crunching would get under my skin real quick. Like imagine trying to have a quiet morning coffee and every time someone pulls in it's just snap crackle pop for five seconds straight. Hadn't considered the noise factor at all until you pointed it out.

@williams.sage yeah the noise is the worst part honestly. If you ever do get stuck with one, laying down some rubber mats under the gravel near the house cuts the crunch down a ton. Helps with dust too, just gotta make sure the water drains right.
