That $120 shelf system I bought for the garage was a trap
Spent $120 on those modular garage shelves from the big box store, they sag with anything over 10 pounds and the plastic clips snapped after 3 weeks. Has anyone found a cheap way to make wire shelving actually hold weight, or am I stuck with wood planks?
My brother did the same thing with those plastic clip shelves and got so mad he bolted the uprights straight to the wall studs with L brackets. Cost him like eight bucks in hardware and those shelves have held paint cans and a small engine block since. The trick is the wire itself is fine, it's the clips and the cheap feet that give out. If you screw a piece of plywood across the back legs into studs you take all the wobble out. Also check the rating on the box, some of those sets say 50 pounds per shelf but that's only if you put the weight dead center. I'd fix what you have before buying planks, wood just eats up space and collects dust.
