Vent: My smartwatch reviews did not match the real thing after an update

I picked a smartwatch because all the reviews said it was great. After the update, the features they liked work totally different now. What do you do when gadget reviews get old fast?

My old tablet basically turned into a fancy paperweight after an update. Now I just assume every gadget review expires faster than milk.

Yeah my buddy had that happen... he bought a fitness tracker last year based on all these glowing reviews about its sleep tracking. Then the company pushed a big update that totally changed how it scored sleep stages, made the whole thing way less detailed. He was so annoyed because he picked it for that one feature... now it feels like a different device on his wrist and those old reviews are just pointless. He's kinda stuck with it now since the return window is long gone. Makes you wonder if you can ever really trust a review unless it's from right after the latest update.

Heard my cousin rant about his smart bulb last week. He bought it because all the reviews said it had great color options, but after a firmware update, half the colors were gone. It's like @patricia_johnson said, you can't trust old reviews once companies start changing things. Makes me think we should always check for update logs before buying anything tech. Really sucks when you feel tricked by a product you already own.

Seriously, my own smart plug did something similar after an update and now I miss the old schedule setup. Feels like getting a downgrade disguised as help. Just reminds me not to get too attached to how any gadget works right now.
