Contrary to common advice, I stopped daily competitor checks

My product improved when I focused on our users instead.

Man, I get that totally. I used to watch other guys' pricing like a hawk and it just made me anxious. Once I just started asking my own customers what THEY actually wanted fixed, my whole business got simpler.

That bit about asking your customers is SPOT ON. I found my features got way better when I just listened to user complaints instead of copying rivals. Now I only glance at competitors maybe once a quarter, if that.

Honestly @anderson.paul, that sounds risky. What if a competitor drops a feature that changes what users even think to ask for? You can get stuck just fixing old problems. Isn't it better to mix listening with watching the field? I check in on other companies every few weeks, not to copy, but to see the new patterns. It keeps you from being surprised.
