A chill from grandma's kitchen fixed my hydrangea woes
I almost gave up on using hydrangeas in bouquets. Remembering how grandma kept her flowers fresh with cold water, I tried it. Now they stay vibrant for days.

Interesting, but mine always wilt no matter what I try...

Feel your pain completely. I've killed more plants than I care to admit. Tried every trick online, from watering schedules to different soils. They just give up on me after a few weeks. It's like they have a personal grudge or something. At this point, I'm convinced some plants are just drama queens.

Your drama queens comment really hits home. I've had plants that seem to thrive on neglect while others die if I look at them wrong. What kind of plants are you trying to keep alive? I wonder if some types are just more sensitive to indoor conditions. Have you noticed any pattern with specific plants doing better than others?

What if plants aren't the problem here? Sometimes I wonder if we're just really bad at giving them what they actually need. Elizabethmason, you said they wilt no matter what you try, but maybe the trying is the issue. People kill plants with too much water and fuss way more often than with neglect. It might not be a grudge, just a quiet protest against being drowned.
