Local bylaws are pushing for eco-fences, but clients hate the price tag

Some towns around here are starting to require fences built from earth-friendly or used materials. On one hand, it's good for the planet and can hold up longer with less upkeep. On the other hand, I've had customers walk away when they hear the extra cost. They say a chain-link fence does the job for half the price. I'm stuck between doing what's right and keeping business going. What's your view on figuring out green building with client budgets?

Showing clients the long-term savings on upkeep changed a few minds for me. It takes some explaining, but they often come around when they see the bigger picture.

I used to skip green options for cost too. Seeing how they last longer with less work changed my mind.

People forget the time saved is a real cost too. My weekend isn't free labor. If a green product means I don't spend Saturday fixing or cleaning something, that's hours back in my life. That time has value, even if it doesn't show up on a receipt. It's not just about the money saved on replacements, it's about getting your own time back.

Turns out "expensive" saves money... funny how that works!
