I finally gave up on that cheap post hole digger from the hardware store

Honestly, it snapped on the third post trying to get through some clay in Springfield. That was $60 down the drain and half a morning wasted. What manual digger do you guys actually trust for tough soil?

Ever try one of those two-person auger handles? They're a pain to coordinate but they'll power through clay that breaks the cheap ones.

My uncle's crew in Texas ditched those two-handle augers after one guy got his shoulder yanked out of the socket. They just rent a small power auger now.

My grandpa's old Ames Blue Demon is still in my shed. That thing is from the 70s and has set more fence posts than I can count. The steel is thick and the handles are welded, not bolted. You just can't find that kind of heavy duty build for a reasonable price anymore.
