PSA: I thought mixing prints was a bad idea until my student's project last month
A kid in my class made a skirt with tiny florals and big, bold stripes for a design contest. At first, I thought it would look messy... but she used the same three colors in both prints. After she sewed it, the whole thing just clicked. It looked intentional, not crazy. Has anyone else tried linking prints through color instead of avoiding them?

Honestly, that sounds like a lucky accident. Most of the time, sticking to one print is just safer. Mixing them is a fast way to make a real mess, even with matching colors. The rule of three doesn't guarantee a good result.

Wondering if she planned the color link from the start or found the matching fabrics by accident. That's the part I always struggle with, picking the prints first or the shared colors. Do you think having that rule of three colors made the whole process easier for her?
