Heard a guy at a clinic say "just nail it and pray" and I had to walk away
I was at a clinic in Lexington last month and this younger farrier said that about a tricky hoof with some white line issues. Nailed it and prayed? Come on man, that's not a strategy. I've been doing this for 12 years and I still measure twice and adjust my fit if something feels off. Praying doesn't fix a bad shoe or a nail that's gonna pinch. Anyone else run into guys who treat this trade like a guessing game?

Boy howdy, some people really do treat horseshoeing like a carnival game. @violaramirez you're right that it's everywhere now, but I think the scary part is that farrier prayed instead of pulling the shoe and starting over. That wasted 20 minutes of the owner's money and puts the horse at risk for lameness later. I've had days where I wanted to close my eyes and hope for the best, but that's when you step back and look at the foot from a different angle. Some folks just don't have the patience for the slow work, and it shows.

Isn't that how half the people treat everything now, just slap it together and hope?
