My neighbor's drone made me rethink backyard privacy

Last week, I saw a drone from my neighbor's house flying right by my backyard. It felt like a huge invasion of my space. This got me thinking about how new tech like drones changes what privacy means. Where do we draw the line between cool gadgets and spying? Curious what you all think.

Our backyard used to feel safe.

Check local laws, then talk to your neighbor.

My drone flying is a JOKE, I once filmed my own feet for ten minutes. @robertlane is right that a chat helps, but this is BIGGER than one test flight. These things can peek over fences and film without any warning. That's a HUGE shift in what we call private space. We can't just hope people are nice, we need real limits. Otherwise, every backyard becomes a potential camera zone.

Calling one drone flight an invasion seems a bit dramatic. Your neighbor might just be testing a new gadget. We've dealt with privacy issues before, like when everyone got security cameras. Have a chat with them instead of worrying. Drones are mostly for fun, not for spying. Sure, keep an eye out, but don't lose sleep over it.
