Talked to a senior esthetician yesterday about my lash lift technique

She watched me do a set and said my glue placement was too close to the root. Said I was causing more retention issues by being greedy. Never really thought about it that way - has anyone else had to pull back their precision to get better results?

My friend Sarah had the same issue with her lash clients for months. She finally listened to a senior tech who told her the same thing and it was like night and day - her retention almost doubled once she stopped crowding the root.

Take her advice and test it on a few different clients with thin versus thick lashes. Backing off the glue by about half a millimeter fixed my retention issues within a week. It feels wrong at first but your clients will notice the difference when sets last longer.

Tested this myself after a similar talk with a mentor and it really changed my game. @avery_flores17 is totally right about the half millimeter difference. I pulled back my glue placement and saw lashes holding way better on clients with fine lashes who used to lose theirs in two weeks. It felt so wrong at first, like I was being sloppy, but the retention numbers don't lie. Now I always remind myself to trust the gap and not squeeze the glue too close.
