Rant: From my aunt's computer chaos, a lightbulb moment about pop ups

I was helping my aunt with her slow computer. She just clicked through all the pop ups without reading them. It hit me that we do this because most are useless or scary. Now I get why simple design changes everything. Anyone had a similar wake up call?
