Tried using a laser level for the first time on a job in Akron

I usually stick to my old bubble level but I gave a Bosch GLL 30 a shot last week on a kitchen remodel. Got the whole layout done in half the time but accidentally left it on for 2 hours and killed the batteries. Lesson learned - always pack spares or get the rechargeable one. Has anyone else switched to laser and hated going back?

Isn't it funny how small upgrades make the biggest difference once you try them?

Depends on what you call a small upgrade, I guess. In my experience, people hype up little changes way too much. You swap out a mouse pad or get a slightly better cable and suddenly everyone acts like it's life changing. Take it from someone who's wasted money on that stuff, a lot of it is just placebo. I've gone back to cheap basic gear before and honestly didn't miss the fancy stuff after a week. Your mileage may vary but I think most of the time your brain is just tricking you into feeling the upgrade was bigger than it actually was.

Yeah, I tried one of those fancy $80 mouse pads once. Felt different for like two days. Then I just got used to it. My cat puked on it a week later and I didn't even care. Swapped back to my old $10 one and honestly couldn't tell the difference after an hour.
