Just tried Google Ads for my firm and got zero calls in 30 days

Spent $800 on a targeted campaign for family law in Edmonton and not a single inquiry came through, while my buddy swears by Facebook groups for referrals. Has anyone else had Google Ads completely flop for legal marketing?

Same thing happened to me with ads for my business. Google Ads ate up cash fast and gave me nothing back. Facebook groups actually worked way better for local clients who needed help urgently. Try joining Edmonton legal help groups and answer questions there, people remember the name.

Oh man, I gotta push back a little on the Facebook groups thing. They can work, but only if you're careful about which ones you join. I tried answering questions in a few Edmonton legal help groups and half of them were just spam or people arguing about parking tickets. The groups that actually helped were tiny hyperlocal ones, like for specific neighborhoods. The big citywide groups are a mess and you'll get lost in the noise. Also make sure you read the group rules first or you'll get booted for self-promotion before you even help anyone.

Did you try any of the smaller neighborhood groups? @stone.lisa nailed it about the big citywide ones being a mess. I had way better luck in a local Mill Woods community group. People there actually knew each other and trusted recommendations. One mom posted asking for a cheap lawyer for her son's custody thing. I just pointed her to legal aid. She messaged me later saying it helped. That kind of stuff never happens in the big groups. Too many trolls and bots.
