Had a week where every single ad I ran flopped hard
Last Tuesday I launched a new Google Ads campaign for a family law firm in Edmonton and spent $800 before realizing my targeting was set to the wrong city entirely. Has anyone else dealt with a campaign that just absolutely tanked for no clear reason?

Have you checked your search terms report to see what queries actually triggered your ads? I caught a medical practice campaign that was getting clicks from people searching "worst lawyer near me" because my client had "bad" and "lawyer" in the same headline. The platform matched them together even though the intent was totally wrong. Worth digging into those exact matches before you assume it's just a location problem.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The way these ad platforms match words is like when you search for "apple pie recipe" and get results for iPhone cases because they both have "apple" in them. The system doesn't understand context or intent at all. It's just grabbing words and throwing them together. I've noticed this same problem with smart assistants too. My phone hears "turn on the living room lights" but sometimes it thinks I said "learning room lights" and just does nothing. The technology sees the pieces but misses the bigger picture entirely.

One bad example from @wood.faith doesn't mean everyone's search terms are a mess, does it?
