The office fridge got a milk crate system and I miss the chaos
Everyone hated when random yogurts piled up and went bad, so our manager added labeled crates by date last March. Now everything is sorted by week and nobody plays fridge roulette anymore. But the old mess actually forced me to talk to coworkers while digging for my lunch, like bonding over mystery containers. The system works great and nothing stinks, but I honestly miss that dumb daily adventure. After 6 weeks of perfect order, I feel like we lost the only fun part of a boring job. Am I the only person who thinks too much organization kills the vibe at work?
Six weeks isn't really long enough to call it a loss though. The old chaos probably felt fun because it was unpredictable, not because of the mess itself. Give it a few more months and you'll probably find new stuff to bond over, like whose turn it is to clean the crates or someone's lunch going missing from the wrong week. The adventure just changes shape is all.
