That broken laminator finally bit the dust after 6 years. I celebrated.

Last Wednesday in the teachers lounge, our ancient laminator started smoking. Not a big cloud, just a little puff. Everyone panicked. I was honestly thrilled. That thing jammed on the warmup cycle for half a decade. I finally had an excuse to get a new one from the office. Am I the only one who roots for office equipment to fail gracefully?

Get the office to spring for one that does cold lamination too. Way less jamming and you can rush through a whole stack before first period.

Start bugging the warehouse manager about getting a thermal laminator that also does cold. I've found cold lamination works way better for certain things like anchor charts or big posters that you might need to roll up. Hot can make those stiff plastic sheets crack or peel off if the kids try to fold them. Plus with cold you don't have to wait for it to warm up, just load and go. Ever tried running one of those thick tagboard signs through a hot one without it curling?

Cold laminators are a game changer for real. Makes that whole laminating assembly line way less of a headache when you're trying to get stuff done before the kids show up. Also saves on those little plastic pouches since they don't warp as easy.
