Question about the new safety rules for the main pump room

Okay, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I think the new rule about having two people in the main pump room at all times is a bad idea. I was on a job in Mobile Bay last month, and we had a small leak start on a high-pressure line. My partner was right there, but the spray was so sudden and loud it startled us both. We bumped into each other trying to get to the main shutoff, which actually took longer. I think one trained person who knows the exact layout can move faster. The rule adds a body in a tight space when seconds count. Has anyone else had a close call where an extra person just got in the way?

Totally agree. Saw the same thing happen on a rig last year.

Actually saw the opposite happen.

It's wild how often that exact scenario plays out. The small stuff gets ignored until it causes a major shutdown. Seen it lead to a full day of lost work because a simple seal wasn't replaced on schedule. Makes you wonder what else they're letting slide.
