I wanted to be a marine biologist until a high school trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium

I was 16 and so sure that was my path, but I got seasick just on the little research boat tour they do. Really bad, for like two hours. That was the moment I knew I had it all wrong, because I had only ever loved the idea from books and TV. Has anyone else had a dream fall apart from one real world try?

That's a pretty big life choice to make from one bad boat ride. Seasickness often gets better with time and exposure, it's not a permanent condition. Plenty of marine biologists work in labs or coastal centers and barely step foot on a boat. Letting a single rough experience, especially as a teenager, completely rewrite a dream seems like an overreaction. The real world test should be about the work itself, not a side effect you could probably get past.

Ever try those pressure point wristbands for motion sickness?

My dream of being a pilot ended after one flight lesson... the instructor told me to look at the horizon and I got so dizzy I almost passed out. Turns out I just liked the jackets.
