TIL in a dream last night that driving backwards is somehow faster than going forward

I was trying to get to a gas station in my hometown but all the roads were one-way the wrong direction, so I threw it in reverse and suddenly flew past everything at 90 mph. Has anyone else ever had a dream where the rules of physics just completely flip on you like that?

You know, it's funny you mention that because I've noticed a similar thing happens in real life, just not with cars. When I'm working on a really messy house and I hit a wall, sometimes the best thing is to step back and do the opposite of what feels right. Like, instead of scrubbing harder, you just let the cleaner sit for a while. It's like the dream is telling you that going against your first instinct can actually speed things up.

That reminds me of something I read in a psychology article about "reversals" where the solution to a stuck problem is literally doing the opposite of what you normally would. @ninaowens your cleaner example totally matches that idea, like the dream is telling us to stop forcing things. Have you ever tried it with other stuff besides cleaning?

Yeah I read something similar in a health newsletter once. It said the same thing about doing the opposite when you're stuck, which lines up with what you're saying about @ninaowens and her cleaner approach. I tried it with fixing a leaky pipe once instead of tightening it more I loosened it a bit and it actually stopped dripping.
