The coworking space switch that wrecked my productivity in 3 weeks
I moved from a small quiet coworking spot in Medellin to one of those big flashy ones with a pool table and free beer. First week I thought I was killing it, getting all this "energy" from the buzz. Second week I noticed I was only getting like 4 hours of real work done a day. By week three I had to admit it was a disaster, I was spending half my time chatting or grabbing snacks. The old place had strict noise rules and zero distractions, I got 7 solid hours there no problem. Now I'm moving back and eating the membership cost because the hype was total trash. Has anyone else fallen for a "fun" workspace and regretted it?

Learned that one the hard way in Austin last year. Pool table and kombucha on tap are great for a break, but they turn your whole day into a series of breaks. Moved back to my boring box with the flickering light and got my 8 hours back by day two. The hype is just bait for people who want to look cool instead of get the work done.

Yeah that "energy from the buzz" thing is a trap, it's just noise disguised as motivation. Best advice I got was to treat coworking like a library, if it has free beer or games you're paying for distractions not focus.
