I finally bought a $1200 aftermarket turbo for my 6.7 Powerstroke, and now I'm wondering if the extra power is worth the potential reliability hit.

Some guys swear by the extra torque for towing, but others say you're just asking for a blown head gasket down the line, so what's your take on modified vs. stock turbos for daily drivers?

Wait, you spent $1200 on a turbo for a daily driver?

Nah, it was way less than that, I got a used one for like half that price. Still a lot for a daily, but the old one was totally shot. The boost is way smoother now, and I don't have to listen to that awful bearing noise anymore. Worth it to me for a car I drive every day.

Yeah, finding a used turbo in decent shape is the move. I did the same thing on my old Civic, wesleyb20. The key is checking for shaft play and any cracks in the housing before you buy. Saved a ton and it ran perfect for years.
