The tiny deli receipt that changed how I bill my vendors

Last Tuesday I stopped at Vince's on Gratiot for a pastrami sandwich, and the owner, this older guy named Sal, wrote my total on a napkin instead of ringing it up. He said, 'I don't need a machine to know what's fair, and neither should you.' I've been chasing late payments from three contractors for months, and Sal's napkin math reminded me that a handshake and a clear number beats a 10-page invoice every time. Anyone else found that smaller vendors nail collections better than the big corporate clients?

Damn, that napkin story hits hard! So do you think the trust factor is what actually speeds up their payments, or are they just scared of looking cheap in front of Sal?
