The moment I realized my junk drawer was a trap not a solution

I was digging through my junk drawer for the third time last Tuesday looking for a screwdriver. It took me 15 minutes to find it buried under three old takeout menus, a broken charger, and a key I didn't recognize. That's when it hit me: I wasn't organizing chaos, I was just hiding it behind a closed drawer. Has anyone else had that sinking feeling when you realize your 'system' is really just a pile with a lid on it?

Wait, is that drawer even really a "junk drawer" or just a hoarding spot we're pretending is organized? It's wild how we convince ourselves tossing stuff in there is productive until we need to find something specific.

Man, I used to defend my junk drawer like it was a sacred space. I'd call it "organized chaos" and swear I knew exactly where everything was in there. Then the other day I needed a single AAA battery and spent 15 minutes digging through old takeout menus, random screws, and three dead pens before I gave up. You're right, it's just a dumping ground for stuff I'm too lazy to put away. I'm rethinking my whole system now, maybe even considering just getting rid of the drawer altogether. Feels weird to admit, but you might have just saved me from myself.

Exactly, it's like we're just curating a little pile of regret.
