Just realized I got rid of 500 things this year and my apartment in Denver finally feels like a home
I started keeping a tally on a sticky note in January just to see if the whole one in one out thing was working. Hit 500 this morning when I dropped off a bag of old cables and two broken speakers at Goodwill. What surprised me is that I don't miss a single thing on that list, not even the guitar I sold. The weird part is my closet still looks pretty full, so where did 500 things even come from? Did anyone else keep a count and get a number way higher than they expected?
The drawer thing is real. I did my own count a couple years back and the number was wild, but most of it was stuff that hid in plain sight. Think about it: old phone chargers from 2012, that one sock whose match ran away, expired meds, half used notebooks, the little bags that sheets come in. The closet stays full because we never count stuff like Tupperware lids that don't fit or single earrings. Those small things add up fast. I bet if you counted the cables and speakers alone you already hit 50 without even trying.
