Finally tossed the box of cables I kept 'just in case' for 5 years
I had a drawer full of random chargers and cords from old phones and gadgets I haven't owned since 2018. Last week, I pulled it all out and recycled most of it at Best Buy, kept only two universal USB cords. Has anyone else held onto old tech stuff way longer than they should?

Did you actually check what was in that box before tossing it, or was it more of a "I'm finally strong enough to let go" kind of moment? I ask because I found an old FireWire cable in my pile last month and had no idea what device it even belonged to, but I kept it anyway because what if I find a vintage iPod at a garage sale tomorrow? That's the real struggle right, knowing when to actually cut the cord both literally and figuratively on stuff that's been sitting for half a decade.

Wait, you're telling me you kept a FireWire cable on purpose? @elizabethmason I found like three of those things in a box last year and I just threw them straight in the trash without even thinking twice about it. The real question is why we hold onto stuff like that, like some part of our brain thinks we're gonna get a time machine and go back to 2004. Honestly I think the moment you have to google what a cable is for, its safe to just toss it and move on with your life.

Did you at least keep the receipt from when you bought that box?
