Chose the spare bedroom over the garage for my donation pile, no regrets
I had two stacks of stuff after clearing out my mom's place in Akron, one for the garage and one for the spare bedroom. I went with the bedroom because it's easier to grab bins when the charity truck comes, and the garage got too dusty and moldy anyway. Managed to move 14 boxes out in two weekends instead of dragging it out for months. Anyone else pick one staging spot over another and find it made a big difference?

...but honestly the real question is how you handled the guilt of putting your mom's stuff in a room you walk past every day versus the garage where you could've just shut the door and ignored it. Like, did having it in the spare bedroom make you actually sort through boxes faster, or did you just get better at closing that door really quick when company came over? Because I tried the garage once and it turned into a black hole for six months, so I'm wondering if the bedroom pressure is what made the difference for you.
