Thought I was hot stuff using my phone for a 4 minute plank, then my own client counted out loud
Caught myself holding my breath and dropping my hips around the 2 minute mark, and my client Jenna in Austin just said "that's not a plank." I've been teaching the move for 9 years and never once checked my own form on video. Anyone else get humbled by somebody they're supposed to be coaching?
Why does a client counting out loud automatically mean they're right about your form? Jenna's a paying customer in a class, not a certified trainer with a checklist, and she could've just been counting sloppy or watching from a bad angle. Checking your own video is fine, but letting a random "that's not a plank" undo 9 years of coaching seems like giving one offhand comment way too much weight. Half the time clients say stuff like that just to see if they can rattle you, and it sounds like it worked.
