I was dead wrong about running first thing in the morning being terrible
For years I swore I could never be a morning runner. I tried it maybe 3 times and felt awful each time, heavy legs, couldn't breathe, the whole thing. But my buddy at the gym kept saying I was just going too hard too fast and not eating right the night before. He convinced me to try a 4 week experiment with a super easy pace and a banana before bed. By week 2 I was actually looking forward to the quiet streets and the sunrise over the lake near my house. Now I've done 8 weeks straight and my afternoon runs feel way harder in comparison. Has anyone else found that switching when you run completely changed how you feel about it?

Was it just the pace change that clicked for you, or did the banana before bed actually make a difference? I’ve always heard that pre-sleep carbs help morning runs but never tested it myself. I’m curious if that one tweak was the key or if the whole routine shift mattered more.

Man, is it really that serious though? Like cool you found a new time to run but it's still just running at the end of the day. I tried morning runs for a month once and all I got was a sore back and the same amount of sweat.

Banana before bed is mostly just extra calories, the real change was probably just forcing yourself out the door consistently.
