I thought mall walkers were just killing time until I joined them at Northgate at 7am
Figured it was just old folks circling a dead Sears, but after 3 weeks of laps with guys like 74 year old Ray I started hearing stories about the place when it still had a fountain and a Farrell's. Now I do 2 miles there 4 days a week and know more about that mall's history than the leasing office does, so what's the weirdest thing a regular has told you about your local dead mall?
Gonna disagree that it's weird stuff, honestly the stories are the whole point. Spent years walking past that empty food court without knowing a single thing about it, and now some 80 year old guy tells me about the arcade that used to be there and it's way more interesting than whatever store is there now. Dead malls aren't dead, they just turned into museums and the regulars are the tour guides.
