Hot take: I thought save file sharing for dead games was pointless, now I have a 100% Mercenaries 2 save and I get it
I always rolled my eyes at people who traded save files for games with dead servers. Like, what is the point if you did not earn it yourself? Then my friend handed me a USB stick with a complete save for Mercenaries 2 on PS3. His PS3 had the exclusive DLC that got pulled from the store back in 2009, and my copy was a plain retail disc. I loaded his file and suddenly I had the BLU-73 jetpack and the multiplayer-only tank skins that I could never get because the servers died in 2010. It felt like opening a time capsule. I played for 6 hours straight that night, just flying around Caracas doing nothing. Now I keep a folder of fan-made saves for games like MotorStorm Pacific Rift and MAG. It is not cheating if the official servers are gone, right? Anyone else have a save file that unlocked stuff you literally cannot get anymore?

Wondering if you actually tried to get that content yourself before deciding the save file was the easy way out? Six hours of flying around sounds less like a time capsule and more like you skipped straight to the reward without the work.
