The parking lot lines I repainted took 3 weekends, not 3 hours

I thought a fresh coat of paint on my rental property's lot would be a quick job. Turns out the old striping had faded so bad I had to measure every single space by hand, 42 total. By the time I rented the line painter and dealt with the wind in Riverside, it ate up two full Saturdays and part of a Sunday. Anyone else ever turn a 'quick fix' into a whole weekend saga that cost more in patience than money?

Figure out the cost of your time before you even start. That's the lesson I keep relearning on my own property. I spent a whole weekend fixing a drainage ditch that I figured would take a Saturday morning. By the time I dug out the old pipe, found the root blockage, and drove back and forth to the hardware store twice, I'd lost two days and a good chunk of my back. And the rental income I lost because the lot was half painted and blocked off probably paid for a professional crew to do it twice over. These jobs never go fast because it's the hidden stuff, the measuring and the prep, that eats the clock. You're not alone in this, most of us just nod and smile when we tell people it's done, leaving out the three weekends part.
