Picked family dinner over a $300 rush job in Phoenix

Last Tuesday a regular client begged me to squeeze in a backyard cleanup before their Friday party. Offered me triple my normal rate, cash. I almost said yes, but my daughter had her first choir concert that night. Told the client no, took the loss, and sat in the third row. The concert lasted 20 minutes and she sang one line off-key. Worth every dollar I turned down. Has anyone else passed on easy money for a moment that meant more?

Oh man, that story gave me chills... my best friend skipped a huge overtime shift to see her kid's science fair and he won second place for a volcano that barely erupted... she still says it was the best money she ever lost.
