I swear my neighbor's hedge grew 2 feet in one week after that heatwave

I'm not even exaggerating, I walked by this house on Elm Street every single day and the hedge was this neat little knee-high thing. Then we had that 5 day heatwave here in Austin and suddenly it's waist high and all wild looking. I guess the heat and the watering schedule they switched to just made it explode. It's messing with my whole sense of time, like how can a plant change that fast without me noticing day to day? Has anyone else had something in their neighborhood just totally transform overnight like that?

lol @nathan901 is probably right but I wonder if maybe the heatwave just triggered some crazy root network underground that was already there waiting. Nobody's talking about how the watering systems on those timers might be synced up wrong with the new city restrictions, so now the hedge gets flooded every night and goes berserk. Like, my neighbor's ivy did the same thing a couple years back and it turned out their sprinkler controller was stuck on a 3 am cycle for weeks straight. Plus with all that heat baking the ground during the day, the roots just go nuts when the water finally hits them at night.

Pull out a tape measure and call the cops on that hedge, it's clearly juicing.
