Epoxy pour compared to two-part resin, do not learn this the hard way
I spent last Sunday coating a river table with a cheap epoxy from the big box store and it stayed sticky for 48 hours, then I tried a marine-grade two-part resin on a test piece and it cured solid in 6. Has anyone else found the price difference is totally worth it, or did I just buy a bad brand?
So you left it sticky for two days, did you check the mix ratio or room temp first? I've had cheap stuff from the box store cure just fine when it was warm and I stirred it for a full three minutes, and I've also had pricey marine resin stay tacky because my shop was like 60 degrees. One bad pour doesn't really prove the price tag is the whole story, it could be the brand, could be the batch, could be you grabbed a bottle that sat on a shelf for two years. I get why you'd swear off the cheap stuff after scraping goo off a table though. Still, two different products tested once each isn't much to go on, you'd need to run the same cheap brand a few more times before blaming the price.
